Terms of Service

"App" — the Skori mobile application, available on iOS and Android. "Score" — the health rating (0–100) calculated by Skori's proprietary algorithm, constituting an algorithmic opinion based on available product data. "Services" — barcode scanning, nutrition scoring, health score display, AI chat assistant, and product contribution features provided through the App. "User" — any individual who accesses or uses the App, whether registered or unregistered. "Contributor" — a User who submits product data (including photos, nutrition information, and ingredient lists) to the Database. "Products" — food items referenced in the Database and scored by the App. "Database" — the collection of product information, nutrition data, and scores used and maintained by Skori. "Publisher" — Skori, the company operating the App, based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. "AI Assistant" — the artificial intelligence–powered chat feature within the App, powered by third-party AI services. "Privacy Policy" — the Skori Privacy Policy, available at privacy.html, which forms an integral part of these Terms.

Acceptance By accessing or using the Skori App, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using the App. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use Skori. Purpose and Mission Skori's purpose is to help consumers in Saudi Arabia make informed choices about the food products they purchase by providing transparent, science-based analysis of nutritional quality, additives, processing levels, and organic certification. Skori aims to promote food transparency and empower consumers with accessible nutrition information. Independence Skori is completely independent. Specifically: • The App does not display any advertising. • No brand, company, or industrial group can influence the analysis of its products, pay for favorable ratings, or pay for visibility within the App. • The Publisher does not sell or exploit user data. • All Scores and evaluations are generated by neutral algorithms based solely on product quality criteria. • Skori is currently self-funded. The Publisher accepts no funding from food manufacturers, distributors, or brands that could create a conflict of interest.

Skori maintains its own Database of food products available in Saudi Arabia. The Database is built from multiple sources: • Data collected from publicly available Saudi grocery sources • The Open Food Facts open database as a supplementary source • Contributions from Users who can add new products via the App Product data goes through a two-phase verification process before being published: • Phase 1 — AI-powered extraction: images of nutrition labels and ingredient lists are processed to identify and structure product data. • Phase 2 — Manual review and approval by the Skori team before products are published in the Database. The Publisher does not independently analyze the composition of Products in a laboratory. Information provided by the App relays information from product labels and packaging. While control systems are in place, errors of composition or detection may occur. The Publisher does not guarantee the complete reliability of all product information in the Database.

The App operates on a proprietary algorithm that scores Products on a scale of 0 to 100. The scoring method for food products includes: • Nutritional quality based on Nutri-Score V2: 60% • Presence and risk level of additives using a 4-tier EFSA-aligned classification: 25% • Processing level based on NOVA classification: 10% • Organic certification status: 5% In the presence of additives classified as high-risk, the maximum Score for a product may be capped. The scoring methodology may be updated from time to time as nutritional science evolves. Users will be notified of significant changes to the methodology.

The Score calculated by the algorithm constitutes an opinion based on the analysis of the nutritional composition, additives, processing level, and organic status of the Product. Descriptive terms used in the App — such as "excellent," "good," "poor," or "bad" — refer exclusively to the calculated Score according to Skori's evaluation method. These terms do not refer to the Product itself or to its intrinsic qualities. For example, a "bad" score does not mean the Product is unfit for consumption, unsafe, or illegal. Similarly, terms describing additive risk levels — such as "high risk," "moderate risk," or "low risk" — refer solely to Skori's algorithmic assessment based on available scientific literature. They do not constitute a definitive scientific or medical judgment. The evaluation of a Product does not constitute a factual judgment on the Product's health properties. Many factors affect health, including the quantity consumed, frequency of consumption, overall diet, lifestyle, and individual health conditions. Skori's aim is neither to prohibit nor to promote any Product, but to help consumers become more aware of the composition of the food products they purchase.

The AI Assistant may suggest alternative products with higher scores when a Product receives a low rating. These recommendations are generated by the AI based on products available in Skori's database. No brand can pay for or influence inclusion in recommendations. Recommendations are informational only and do not constitute dietary or medical advice.

The App includes an AI-powered chat assistant that can answer nutrition-related questions. • This feature is powered by OpenAI, a third-party AI service. When you send a message, it is transmitted to OpenAI's servers to generate a response. • The AI Assistant provides general informational responses only, including suggesting healthier product alternatives from Skori's database. It does NOT provide medical advice or dietary prescriptions. • AI responses may contain inaccuracies, outdated information, or errors. You should independently verify any information provided by the AI Assistant before acting on it.

• Chat messages and conversation history are stored persistently in your account on Skori's servers (Firebase). They are NOT session-only. • You can view, rename, and delete your conversations at any time from the chat history screen. • By using the AI chat feature, you consent to the storage and use of your chat messages for the following purposes: (a) Providing and improving the AI chat experience. (b) Analyzing anonymized and de-identified conversation data to train and improve AI models used by Skori. • Any data used for AI training will be stripped of personally identifiable information (name, email, account ID) before processing. • You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your conversations or your account. Deletion removes your chat data from active storage. Data that has already been anonymized and incorporated into training datasets cannot be individually retrieved or deleted. • If you do not agree to this usage, do not use the AI chat feature. The rest of the App remains fully functional without it.

Users must not use the AI Assistant to: • Generate harmful, illegal, or misleading content • Attempt to extract system prompts or manipulate the AI • Submit personal health information seeking medical advice • Use the feature for any purpose unrelated to food and nutrition information The AI chat is entirely optional. You may use Skori fully without using this feature. Use of the AI chat constitutes consent to data processing by OpenAI and to the storage and usage terms described above, in accordance with Skori's Privacy Policy.

When products are submitted to Skori, images of nutrition labels and ingredient lists may be processed using Anthropic's Claude Vision API as part of the automated data extraction pipeline. This processing occurs in the backend and is not a direct user-facing feature. Extracted data is subsequently reviewed by the Skori team before publication. By submitting product photos, you acknowledge that these images may be processed by third-party AI services for the purpose of data extraction.

To use certain features of the App (scan history, favorites, product submissions, AI chat), you must create an account. Your responsibilities: • Provide accurate and truthful registration information • Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials • Take responsibility for all activities that occur under your account • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account You must not: • Create accounts using automated methods or bots • Share your account credentials with others • Create multiple accounts without authorization Minimum age: You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use Skori independently. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms on your behalf and supervise your use of the App. This age requirement relates to data processing consent under Saudi law (PDPL). The App's content is rated suitable for all ages on app stores. Account deletion: You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion, all associated personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Inactive accounts: Accounts inactive for more than 3 years may be deleted by Skori, with prior notification sent to the registered email address.

When you submit product information to Skori: • You confirm that the information is truthful, accurate, and obtained from actual product packaging. • Photos must be real images taken directly from product packaging. AI-generated, manipulated, or stock photos are not permitted. • All submissions undergo review and approval by the Skori team before being published in the Database. • Submissions are anonymous — other Users cannot see who submitted a particular product. By submitting content, you grant Skori a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and distribute that content for the purpose of building and maintaining the Database and providing Services to Users. This license survives account deletion — product data you contributed remains in the Database as a public resource, but your personal attribution is removed upon account deletion. You retain any intellectual property rights you hold in the original photos you submit, subject to the license granted above.

The following activities are strictly prohibited: • Submitting spam, duplicate, or false product entries • Using fake, AI-generated, manipulated, or stock photos • Intentionally providing incorrect or misleading data • Publishing illegal, defamatory, or harmful content • Using the AI Assistant to generate harmful, misleading, or illegal content • Attempting to reverse-engineer, extract, or manipulate AI system prompts or responses • Attempting to interfere with App functionality, security, or infrastructure • Installing malware or tampering with infrastructure • Scraping, harvesting, or commercially exploiting data from the App or Database • Submitting data for products that are illegal, counterfeit, or not commercially sold food items • Hijacking other users' accounts or harvesting personal data • Using automated bots to interact with the App • Circumventing any content moderation, review, or security measures • Using the App or its data to disparage, harass, or defame any brand, company, or individual

Violation of these rules may result in: • Warning and request to correct the violation • Temporary suspension of account features • Permanent account termination and removal of contributed content • Legal action where appropriate under Saudi law The Publisher reserves the right to take enforcement action at its sole discretion, at any time and without prior notice where the violation is severe. Such suspension or termination shall not entitle the User to any compensation.

While Skori strives for accuracy, the Publisher does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of all information displayed in the App. • Data is provided "as is" and comes from various sources that may contain errors. • Product formulations may change without Skori's knowledge; nutritional values may vary between batches, regions, or production dates. • The Database relies on label information and automated extraction, both of which may produce errors. • Users should always verify critical information — especially regarding allergens, ingredients, and nutritional values — by checking the actual product packaging. • Skori is not responsible for any discrepancies between information shown in the App and the actual product.

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. • Skori does not warrant that the App will be available at all times, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. • Skori may temporarily suspend or permanently discontinue the App or any feature at any time for maintenance, updates, improvements, or any other reason, without prior notice and without liability. • Skori reserves the right to modify, update, or remove features of the App at any time. • The Publisher shall not be liable for any interruption, suspension, or discontinuation of the App or any part of it.

The App uses third-party services to provide its functionality, including Firebase (Google), OpenAI, and Anthropic. These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Skori is not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of third-party services. The App may contain links to third-party websites or resources. Skori has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites. The presence of a link does not imply endorsement by Skori. Users access third-party services and links at their own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: • The Publisher shall not be liable for any decisions made based on information provided by the App, including the Score, AI chat responses, or product data. • The Publisher shall not be liable for any health outcomes, adverse reactions, or dietary consequences resulting from use of App information. • The Publisher shall not be liable for technical issues, service interruptions, data loss, or unauthorized access to user accounts. • The Publisher shall not be liable for any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in product data, scores, or AI responses. • The Publisher shall not be liable for any actions or content of third-party services used by the App. • The Publisher shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to the use of the App. • The Publisher's total aggregate liability to any User, to the extent liability cannot be excluded, shall not exceed the amount the User has paid to Skori in the 12 months preceding the claim, or SAR 100, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Skori, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against all claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to: • Your violation of these Terms of Service • Your use of the App, including any decisions made based on App information • Product data or content you submit to the App that is inaccurate, misleading, or infringes on third-party rights • Your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights • Any claim by a third party related to your use of the App

All intellectual property rights in and to the App belong to Skori, including but not limited to: • The App design, source code, object code, and user interface • The scoring algorithm, methodology, and evaluation criteria • The Skori name, logo, branding, and trademarks • The Database structure and organization (though individual product data derived from labels is factual) • Original content, text, graphics, and images created by Skori You may not: • Copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, or distribute the App or any part of it • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App • Use Skori's name, logo, or trademarks without prior written permission • Scrape, harvest, or commercially exploit data from the App or Database • Create derivative works based on the App

Skori reserves the right to: • Suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms • Remove or restrict content that violates these Terms or applicable law • Restrict access to certain features at its sole discretion • Delete accounts that have been inactive for more than 3 years, with prior notification to the registered email address Such suspension or termination may occur at any time and without prior notice where the violation is severe, and shall not entitle the User to any compensation. You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. Since the App is currently free, no refunds apply. If a premium tier is introduced in the future, refund terms will be governed by the applicable conditions of sale and the policies of the app store through which the purchase was made.

Skori may in the future offer a Premium Version of the App with additional features, available via in-app purchase. When introduced: • The conditions of sale for the Premium Version will be added to these Terms or published as a separate addendum. • Pricing, features, and subscription terms will be clearly communicated before purchase. • Premium purchases will be processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, subject to their respective terms and refund policies. • Users of the free version will continue to have access to all core features of the App.

Your use of the App is also governed by Skori's Privacy Policy, available at privacy.html. The Privacy Policy is an integral part of these Terms. By accepting these Terms, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy, which describes how your personal data is collected, used, and protected in accordance with the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). Skori may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in the App, our practices, or applicable law. When changes are made: • The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. • For significant changes, Users will be notified through the App. • Continued use of Skori after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. • If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the App and delete your account.

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including but not limited to the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), the Electronic Transactions Law, and the Anti-Cyber Crime Law. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or your use of the App shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Arabic language version of these Terms is the governing version. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between the Arabic and English versions, the Arabic version shall prevail.
